Denims similar to those used in
traditional-style levis, wranglers and other jeans. They are
twill-weaves (woven on the diagonal). Right-hand twill (RHT) is known
for its rugged durability. In apparel, the twill weave also helps the
fabric conform to the body. Good for jeans, jackets and other
heavyweight apparel, heavy-duty slipcovers, upholstery projects (you
will need to stabilize color for upholstery) and many other projects. |

MIDWEIGHT DENIMS and Colored Twills
(11 oz. to
12½ oz.)
Denims in this group are somewhat lighter in weight
than the heavyweight denims. They are most similar to the weight of
designer-type jeans. As with most denims, they have a twill (diagonal)
weave that cannot be “squared” up in the traditional manner used for
cottons. They are a good choice for slacks, jackets and other apparel.
Also good for slipcovers (not quite as heavy in the washer as the
heavyweight denims) and draperies. Good for quilt backs where you want a
midweight jeans denim.
Please note: The fabrics called
Twills generally have the same diagonal weave as denims but they are the
same color on the front and back. True Denims are usually white or
a light color on the back. |
